I went out to see one of my top ten recording artists last night. Olu Dara’s show was literally a once in a lifetime experience. In the audience were many of his close friends from New York and Chicago as well as his grammar school teacher from Natchez. He put on an amazing and amazingly personal show. At one point describing his troubles as a parent (the rap star Nas is his son) and another describing in detail his “devirginizing experience”. Here’s two songs from his debut In The World:
