In anticipation of Mondays big Johnny Paycheck post here’s two from Merle Haggard courtesy of the Anti website. Anti Records has taken a “chance” on many artists that the majors have either dropped or ignored (Tom Waits, Joe Henry, Solomon Burke). Merle Haggard had one of those great, painfull country music lives primarily involving prison stays, drugs and loose women. He was one of the innovators of hardcore country and honkytonk that the current bunch of alt-country artists have so lovingly tryed to copy and improve upon.

Here’s two songs one from each of his Anti releases:
If You’ve Got The Money
Wishin All These Old Things Were New
Great songs.
Thanks!
