Steve Forbert Sings Jimmy Rodgers (plus his hit Romeo’s Tune)

This Grammy nominated record is a bit of a surprise coming from Steve Forbert but I guess it shouldn’t be. Steve Forbert was born in Meridian, Mississippi as was Jimmie Rodgers. There’s a ton that can be said about Jimmie Rodgers, whole entire books worth I’m sure. And I’ve already written in the past about all I can about the great singer-songwriter Steve Forbert.

So without much further ado here’s four songs from Steve Forbert’s tribute to Jimmie Rodgers called Any Old Time:

Waiting On A Train
Miss The Mississippi And You
Gambling Bar Room Blues
My Carolina Sunshine Girl

Here’s a huge bonus; a live version of “Romeo’s Tune” the song that started it all for Steve Forbert way back in 1979:

Romeo’s Tune
Wild As The Wind (Tribute To Rick Danko)
If You’ve Gotta Ask You’ll Never Know

wonderful choice of tracks..absolutely love steve forbert…I borrowed a vinyl copy of the very album that had Romeo’s Tune on it from Aberdeen Public Library. I was a student at the time and the Library was a saviour for me who liked lots of different sounds. So fond memories cheers!!!
