Polly Paulusma records for One Little Indian (home to Bjork and others). Her new record Scissors In My Pocket came out in June of 2004. It’s her debut release and I’m not sure what kind of acclaim or attention it got at the time. Since she’s still not a household name it seems like not enough.
Polly is British but her singing voice has no descernable accent, on Amazon.com one reviewer mentioned Patty Griffin as a starting point comparison (also Tori Amos). I love the song “One Day” which I’ve linked to below as well as the first track on the album, “Dark Side”. Coincidently Rolling Stone also picks these two songs as standouts. The whole release is as good as these two songs buy it now on One Little Indians secure store here.
