Split Lip Rayfield are a Bloodshot band who claim they have the best looking groupies of any band on that auspicious label. Formed in Witchita, KA from the remains of Scroat Belly, Split Lip have released 4 cds on Bloodshot. All of them inspired by bluegrass but none of them accepted by bluegrass people I’m sure. I suppose the name of the band itself gives a clue to the bands bad attitude.
I suppose there’s a name for this sub genre of alt-country but I’m not sure what it is perhaps hardcore bluegrass or punkountry. Check out this selection of songs from their records including two song from 2004′s Should Have Seen It Coming.

And for the record…. SLR DOES HAVE THE BEST LOOKING “GROUPIES”!! If that is what you want to call us….. but unlike groupies! We dont sleep with the band…. we admire and cherish them as well as respect the hell out of them! You obviously dont play an instrument either otherwise you might be able to appreciate each band members abilities to thrown down on their respective instruments!
anyway. ever heard of the annual walnut valley bluegrass festival? you are a dork dong. and on a side but still important note, the abbreviation for “Kansas” is “KS” Get it straight before you talk smack.
