Of course I’m always amazed at a totally new discovery. How could I have missed this guy or this gal or this band? Where have I been?

The name of today’s discovery is T. Griffin Coraline and their new record is either titled The Sea Won’t Take Long or Redbirds depending on if you bought the first limited edition copy or the copy available now. The band is really a collaboration between T. Griffin and violinist Catherine McRae. Comparisons have been made to Joe Henry, Vic Chesnutt and Tom Waits. All very valid and the Minneapolis White Pages has this to say:

“caught between the melancholy narratives of singer-songwriters and the avant-folk ambience that swirls in the white noise of the city”
