The Good Ship (plus a Cinco De Mayo surprise)

These guys record for Orange Twin Records which is the home of Jack Logan and Elf Power. I’ll let you in on a blogging secret of mine. The best way to discover bands you’ll like is to go to the links section of a band you love and explore from there. I found The Good Ship that way through Liz Durrett’s website.

The Good Ship is Rob Lomax’s Athens Ga. band. He has recently added the aforementioned LiZ Durrett to the band as a violinist. This folk pop has all the trappings of Neutral Milk Hotel and others of that ilk. It’s a fine ilk by the way. Their debut came out in 2003 and a new cd is expected in 2005. Here’s two precious songs from The Good Ship.

PPS To celebrate Cinco De Mayo Compadre Records has posted an mp3 from Flaco Jimenez. It’s nice to hear for a change of pace. Flaco is the first call accordian player and one of the premier mexican american artists. Here’s Tan Solo from the record Squeeze Box King on Compadre Records.
