Palaxy Tracks are an Austin band by way of Chicago. Extended members of the band are Dave Max Crawford and Ted Cho from Poi Dog Pondering. With their Chicago background and current Austin residence and by name dropping a two of the extended members of the band you’d think you could prejudge the bands sound. But you’d be wrong. The group reveals none of the sounds you’d expect from either Austin/Chicago or from members of Poi Dog.
What you do get on their new cd Twelve Rooms is moody guitar rock and emotive vocals occassionally rivaling those of early Morrissey/Smiths. I don’t know what the band would think about that comparison but listen to “The Clarion Way” below and see what you think. This release, their third, came out earlier this summer but I didn’t hear much about it at the time. Now in the midst of a national tour perhaps it’s Palaxy Tracks time.
