Prints of Whales – Peckham Swing (pt. 4 of UK music series) (plus just for kicks a "new" song from Mojo Nixon)

Thursday, June 1st, 2006

Prints Of Whales confirmed in an email to me that there is indeed a rash or bluegrassy bands invading south London and he’s dubbed the movement “Peckham Swing”. Meanwile the music of William Warren (aka Prints of Whales) only shares some of the sound of bluegrass mixed in is a little bit of waltz, swing and even chug a lug country.

These two songs are taken from his debut, Deep song – The Prints of Whales.

Mojo Nixon updates his hit “Elvis Is Everywhere” with “Kinky Is Everywhere”. The new song is in support of Kinky Friedman’s run for Governor of Texas. I guess Mojo’s been talking him up on his Sirius talk show called “Lying Cocksuckers”.

Mojo Nixon & The Toadliquors have come out of semi-permanent retiremant to do a couple petition signing shows supporting Kinky. The dates are up on Mojo’s site. This is a nice return from the artist who seemed to peak with “Stuffin’ Martha’s Muffin” back in the day (about Martha Quin, MTV VJ).
