New music from Charlie Louvin’s first studio record in 10 years (duet with Elvis Costello)(Thompkins Square, Feb. 20)

Charlie Louvin may not make the Hype Machine’s top ten despite having an amazing upcoming 2007 release (with guests like Jeff Tweedy, Will Oldham, Lambchop, George Jones and Elvis Costello), being on the hip label Thompkins Square and having a ton of friends in Nashville. But Charlie (one half of the legendary country duo – The Louvin Brothers) has recorded one hell of a country album.

Sounding like it was recorded in a pre-war studio for Capitol Records, and featuring as much gospel and duo harmonies as it does twangy country, this record is really a time machine back to the early 40’s when country duo’s were battling for top spot on the charts. Here’s his breathtaking duet with Elvis Costello. Click here for more info on this Feb. 2007 release. Also the first digital single from this release “Must You Throw Dirt In My Face” is now for sale through iTunes.
