Honky Tonk Friday – NYC’s The Dixons

Any complaints about honky-tonk Friday you better register them now. Otherwise on we go. The Dixons are a Brooklyn based hard core country band. Real country music in NYC you say! Apparently so.

“Lonesome Side Of Me” is such a great song with such a clever twist of lyrical genius that I just had to look up and see who wrote the original. But at least according to Allmusic.com this is a Dixon’s original. The other song I’ve written about is pretty self explanatory by way of the title – “Jeffro Imitating Johnny Cash”. Both songs are performed though a haze of added vinyl cracks and pops lending both of these songs an authentic feel.

Lonesome Side Of Me
Jeffro Imitating Johnny Cash (levels are a little low but that just adds to the appeal)
