There’s been a recent discussion online about the merits of online pr companies and receiving so much spamish email from labels, bands and publicists. And while I’m generally on the side of those who say the purity of mp3 blogs has been spoiled by the outside influence of promoters, major labels and un-deserving bands, it’s hard to complain when Bloodshot emails you with two new songs from Detroit’s retro-rockers The Deadstring Brothers.
The Deadstring Brothers have that late 60′s /early 70′s organ-fueled rock sound so down that I’ve started comparing bands that sound like the Rolling Stones to The Deadstring Brothers instead. In much the same way that Eric Ambel nailed this sound two decades ago, The Deadstring Brothers have become the new high priests of soulful rock `n’ roll. Silver Mountain will be available here come Oct. 8.
