Something new from Dan Bryk – "She Just Want’s To Get High" (with illicit Blur sample) and a new ep from Chicago’s Palliard

I’m not sure how many of you read/listened to my various Dan Bryk posts over the years. But it’s your lost if you haven’t checked them out (here, here, here). I’m back with another post since I just stumbled upon this demo of a song called “She Just Want’s To Get High”, rumor has it this song (along with it’s Blur guitar sample) is one of the reasons Dan was dropped by New Line Records.

Like many of Dan Bryk’s songs it’s the moral ambiguity combined with the peppy pop sound that make it work so well. Check it out and please don’t tell Blur about the sample.

P.S. I just wrote up the new ep from Chicago’s roots rock wunderkins Palliard over at Transmission. The ep’s called Palliard At The Roger Brown House and is a stripped-down, humble sounding disc peppered with chord organ, mandolin, stand up bass, and random weird percussion. Here’s the song “Still”, you can download the whole six song ep free from the band’s website here. Catch their live show at Schubas this Saturday.
